Draft change history on Home

When you edit a published eWebinar, eWebinar keeps your work in a draft that is separate from the live version your audience sees. The live registration pages, webinar room, and notifications do not change until you Publish.

On desktop Home, each webinar card can show a dark Changes strip (or a plain status line) so you can see unpublished edits, open draft revision history, restore an earlier draft version, discard changes, or publish — without opening the editor.

ℹ️

Draft change history is available on desktop Home for teams that have this feature. Templates do not show revision history. On mobile, the Changes strip and Publish control are not shown on the card.

The Changes strip and status line

After you save edits to a published eWebinar, the card’s top band helps you understand draft state:

  • Changes — expandable strip used when draft revisions exist (or when there are unpublished changes to discard). The band shows a short summary of the latest draft edit beside a green timeline dot, with Publish on the right.
  • View history — opens the revision timeline for that webinar. When history is open, the same control reads Hide history.
  • Discard changes — shown on the strip instead of View history when there are unpublished changes but no expandable revision history yet (for example, older edits from before revision history).

When the card uses a plain status line instead of the Changes strip, you may still see messages such as:

  • Not published — the eWebinar has never been published (or is unpublished).
  • Published — live, with no pending draft edits.
  • This eWebinar has unpublished changes — a draft is ready to publish.
  • Publishing changes… — a publish is in progress.
  • Missing video — the draft cannot be published until a video is available. If revision history exists, you can still choose View changes from this status line.

Collapsed cards can also show a small Has unpublished changes hint under the title.

View history, dates, and summaries

Click View history (or the Changes band) to expand the draft change history for that card. The dark Changes header stays visible and shows your current draft, including who last edited it and when.

Each history row includes:

  • A short summary of what changed (when ready), such as an AI-written summary, or a fallback like Updated interactions, Updated notifications, Updated webinar settings, or Draft edit. While a summary is still being generated you may see Summary generating…; if generation fails, Summary unavailable.
  • A line with who edited · version number · day · time (for example, Alex · #3 · Today · 2:14 PM). Days use Today, Yesterday, or a date such as Aug 12 (with year when needed).
  • The starting point labeled Last published (when the history started from a published version) or Draft created (when the webinar has never been published).
  • Any revisions newer than your current draft labeled After current — these remain listed until a new saved edit replaces them.

Choose Hide history to collapse the timeline again.

Restore an earlier draft

Any row that is not your current draft can offer Restore (if you have permission). Restoring makes that revision your current draft — including restoring to the Last published / Draft created starting point.

  1. Click Restore on the row you want.
  2. Confirm with the message: Make this the current draft version. Making any changes permanently discards newer changes.
  3. Choose Confirm to restore, or Cancel to keep your current draft.
⚠️

Important: Restoring only updates the draft. Your audience still sees the last published version until you publish again. If someone else edits the draft while history is open, you may see: This draft changed since you opened the history. Refreshed — please review and try again.

Discard unpublished changes

When the Changes strip shows Discard changes (unpublished edits with no expandable history), or when you discard from flows that still use the confirm dialog, eWebinar permanently throws away draft edits made since the last publish and returns the draft to the published version.

The confirm dialog asks Discard changes? and warns: Discarding these changes is permanent and irreversible. This will delete any changes you've made to your draft eWebinar since you last published it.

With full revision history, prefer Restore on the Last published starting point (or an earlier row) instead of a one-shot discard — restore keeps the history visible and moves the current draft deliberately.

ℹ️

Discard and restore require permission to discard changes on the eWebinar. Team members without that permission will be prompted accordingly.

Publish your draft changes

When your draft is ready, click Publish beside the Changes strip (or from the card actions). While publish runs, the status line shows Publishing changes…. After a successful publish, the live eWebinar matches your current draft, and the Changes strip clears until the next round of edits.

If the draft changes while you are editing

While you have the editor open with unsaved changes on a page, someone else might update the same eWebinar — another browser tab, a teammate, or an AI assistant connected to your account.

If that happens, eWebinar shows This eWebinar was updated:

  • Keep editing — leave your unsaved changes on this page as they are (you may be out of date with the latest draft).
  • Load update — discard the unsaved changes on this page and reload the latest draft from the server.

If the page you are on has no unsaved edits, eWebinar quietly refreshes to the latest draft without asking.
