eChat doesn't have its own user list. Everyone on your eWebinar team can sign in to eChat, and the role they hold in eWebinar decides what they can do. This article explains what each role allows in eChat, so you can give people the right access in one place.
For how sign-in itself works, see Signing In & Account Access.
What each role can do
What it is
eChat reads each person's eWebinar team role when they sign in and maps it to one of three levels of access.
How it works
- Admin - everything, including billing: changing the plan, buying credit packs, turning auto-recharge on or off, adding extra agent slots, and updating payment details. Admins can also create, edit, and delete any agent.
- Creator - can create, edit, and delete any agent on the team, but can't manage billing.
- Editor and Moderator - can see every agent, create new agents, and edit any agent (instructions, training, settings, and deployment), but can only delete agents they created themselves. No billing access.
If someone hasn't signed in since roles were introduced, they can still view and edit agents, but they get no billing or delete-any permissions until they sign in again and their role is picked up.
Best practices
- Give the Admin role only to people who should be able to spend money on your account.
- Remember that editing is open to everyone on the team, including Moderators - agree on who owns each agent's instructions and training so changes don't collide.
- Use Creator for people who manage agents day to day but shouldn't touch billing.
Managing access
What it is
All access changes happen in eWebinar - there's no team or invite screen inside eChat.
How it works
To add someone, invite them to your eWebinar team. To change what they can do, change their role in eWebinar; the new role applies in eChat the next time they sign in. To remove someone, remove them from your eWebinar team, and their eChat access goes with it.
Best practices
Review your eWebinar team list periodically, and after a role change ask the person to sign out and back in so eChat picks it up right away.
