Deploying an agent means putting it in front of real visitors instead of just testing it in the Playground. Today there is exactly one place an agent can go live: inside an eWebinar webinar's chat, where it acts as an AI moderator alongside your human team.
You don't build a separate deployment from scratch. Once an agent is trained and its instructions feel right, you connect it to one or more webinars from the agent's Deploy section, and it starts answering attendee questions automatically the next time someone joins a session. The full walkthrough for connecting an agent lives in Connecting eChat to Your eWebinar - this article just covers where deployment fits and what to know before you turn it on.
Going live today
An agent is especially useful for:
- Automated or on-demand sessions running when no human moderator is watching the chat.
- High-volume live sessions where the same questions come in faster than a moderator can type answers.
- Covering time zones or hours your team isn't staffed for, without leaving attendees waiting.
To connect one, open your agent, go to Deploy, then the eWebinars tab, and choose which webinar or webinars to connect it to. An agent can be linked to more than one webinar at once - every message it receives tells it which webinar the visitor is on, so it automatically uses that webinar's own video transcript and context when it replies. That makes it easy to cover several session times, or a sales version and an onboarding version of the same product, from a single agent. What you shouldn't do is put unrelated products on one agent just because it's convenient - if you sell more than one product, give each its own agent with its own training, so its knowledge and instructions stay focused and accurate.
A webinar can have only one eChat agent as its AI moderator. A webinar that's already connected to a different agent shows eChat agent connected and can't be selected until you disconnect it from that agent.
If you arrive in Deploy from an eWebinar deep link, that webinar is pinned at the top of the picker. Selected webinars start expanded, and you save with Save eWebinar Selection. Linking is enough for the agent to answer; if you also want attendees to ask for a live person, each webinar still needs an assigned moderator and first-message notifications in eWebinar - details in prerequisites for human hand-off.
Once connected, the agent shows up automatically in that webinar's live chat for every future session, working alongside any human moderators you already have watching. Try it in Playground first, and before your first live session check two things. First, its mode under Escalation on the agent's Agent screen: Chatbot only (works alone), Leave a note (flags messages Needs reply for your moderators and leaves them private notes, but never hands off), or Human hand-off (does the same, and can also hand a conversation to a person when the webinar allows it). Second, the webinar's AI moderator wait time in eWebinar (AI answers if a human doesn't answer in … sec), which decides how long your moderators get to answer first - see the wait time. It's also worth revisiting which webinars are connected whenever you retire or replace one - an agent left connected to an old webinar keeps answering in it.
Widget and API tabs
Next to eWebinars, the Deploy section also shows Widget and API tabs. For agents linked to eWebinar, both are disabled: the Widget tab explains that widget settings are managed by eWebinar, and the API tab explains that the standalone API isn't used for an eWebinar agent, because eWebinar calls the agent through its own managed moderator connection with the webinar's transcript context.
You may also see API Keys in account settings on Pro and higher plans, and "Standalone API access" listed on those plans. Those keys don't apply to eWebinar-linked agents, so there's nothing to set up for an agent that answers in your webinars.
What's next
eWebinar is the only place an agent can go live today. If having your agent live outside of eWebinar - on your own website or inside your own code - matters to you, let your eWebinar contact know. It won't get you early access, but it helps the team prioritize what ships next.
