How companies make the map
- Software first. The company sells software (SaaS, app, platform, data product) as its main offering. Brokerages, teams, coaches, photographers' studios and agencies are out, even if they build tech for themselves.
- Sells to the sell side. The main buyer is a residential real estate agent, team, brokerage, MLS or Realtor association. MLSs and associations themselves are organizations, not vendors, so they are not on the map; MLS software is. Rental and property management software belongs on a different map.
- US or Canada. Headquartered there, or headquartered elsewhere with at least one verifiable US or Canadian client.
- Still operating. Every company is confirmed alive before it goes on, and re-checked before each edition. Acquired products stay on the map under their own brand with the parent noted. Sunset products come off.
- Real estate specific. Horizontal tools (generic CRM, e-signature, design) are out unless they sell a real estate specific product.
- One company, one place. Each company gets exactly one category and one subcategory, chosen from what its homepage leads with, not from its full feature list.
- Not an endorsement. Being listed means we found the company and it meets the rules. It says nothing about quality, size or whether anyone should buy it.
Missing a company, or placed in the wrong box? Email hello@ewebinar.com with the company name, its website and the category you think fits. Requests are reviewed and the map is updated on a rolling basis.
