How SuperOffice uses eWebinar to save its employees time, energy, money, and sanity

Hi, Christian! Can you start by telling me a little bit about yourself and your company?

Of course. SuperOffice is a leading CRM vendor in Europe, headquartered in Oslo, Norway. We help mid-size European companies build stronger relationships, and our goal is to make CRMs feel human again – so our platform supports people instead of turning everything into a spreadsheet. We work with more than 4,000 customers worldwide, and we have about 250 employees across seven locations. We’ve been around for more than 35 years, and I’ve been with the company for more than 25 of those years. I work from our location in Germany, and initially started in support before spending many years as a business and technical consultant. Today I work in presales, while still helping our marketing department with webinars and technical topics. 

What problems were you and your team struggling with before discovering eWebinar?

 

Over the years, we tried five different platforms for hosting live webinars. They were fine at first, but once we moved to pre-recorded sessions, the pain started. We hit file size limits, and uploads took forever. We couldn’t even pull videos directly from platforms like YouTube. Every upload felt like pushing a movie through a drinking straw!

Repeating the same sessions live also drained our energy and focus. So we decided that pre-recorded webinars were the smarter choice for us because they save time and sanity. I went looking for something better and finally discovered eWebinar. I liked it from the very first session.

How does SuperOffice use eWebinar today?

At the moment, we mainly run pre-recorded webinar sessions. A recent highlight was our digital summit at the end of September. We ran eight recurring webinars over the course of five days, spread across different timezones. The webinars were also available on demand. Everything ran smoothly and the feedback was really great; many participants told us the webinars felt like they were live. So that was amazing.

Our next step is to place webinar videos directly on our website to convert visitors into leads around the clock. So, in short, today we use eWebinar for our webinars, and next we will use it for 24/7 lead generation. I’m excited to see those numbers; we’re hoping it will mean getting more leads while we sleep! 

What are some benefits you’ve seen since using eWebinar?

Well, we save a lot of time! As I mentioned before, things got really complicated for us before we discovered eWebinar.

Now that we have eWebinar, our salespeople can now focus on lead generation and not on doing the same live demos over and over again. So it saves us a lot of time, money, and energy.

How do your customers feel about eWebinar’s hybrid format?

That’s a great question. To be honest, when we first started using eWebinar, we weren’t sure our customers or prospects would accept pre-recorded sessions. But once we tried it, they were totally into it!

 

Many of them don’t even realize they’re pre-recorded because the format is so interactive and personal; the chats, polls and all the engagement features make it really feel alive. It’s really the best of both worlds.

I can give you a great example here – at the beginning of a webinar, you can send personal messages to participants like “Hey Melissa, nice to meet you. Enjoy our webinar. If you have any questions, I'm here for you.” So you can use variables to dynamically enter the participants’ first names, for example. And every now and then, someone replies. I’m pretty sure if they thought the webinar was live, they wouldn't answer like that.

So the chat system works great, and you don’t have to sit in front of your computer watching the chat all day. I really appreciate that because otherwise it would be impossible to handle eight webinars a day at the same time! 

That’s great to hear because when we designed our software, we made a conscious effort to make evergreen webinars more engaging than live webinars. 

Absolutely. And at the end of the day, the audience is getting what they want. They want their questions to be answered. It’s not important if the webinar is live or pre-recorded, as long as they get what they want. 

What do you love most about eWebinar?

For me, it’s the simplicity. I’m a big fan of clean design, and eWebinar absolutely nailed it. You can tell it was built by people who actually run webinars and not just by developers.

 

This is quite similar to our own philosophy at SuperOffice because back in the late 1990s, our founder started by hiring 10 designers and only five programmers. His logic was simple – he said you can build the best system in the world, but it’s worthless if no one wants to use it. So for us, usability has always been the best feature and I see the same spirit in eWebinar.

And of course I also love the practical features like the easy uploading of videos, setting up interactions, and how we can easily customize the look and feel of the webinar so that everything is super intuitive. Being able to pull videos directly from YouTube was the cherry on top for me, because that meant the “file is too large” nightmares that we had before were no longer an issue!

I also love that you can easily learn the system by trying it out; you don’t have to have lots of training or read a 50-page manual. I learned the system by myself, I tried it out, and I watched some tutorials. The platform has a great self-service portal with a lot of tips and best practices.

Who would you recommend eWebinar to?

 

I'd recommend it to anyone who is tired of giving the same presentations over and over again – marketing teams, sales teams, educators…anyone who wants to engage people without losing their voice!
