What kinds of video does eWebinar support?

eWebinar supports most common video sources. When you create an eWebinar you can add your video in four ways:

1. Paste a video URL from a supported host: YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, Amazon S3, Descript, and most other major hosts. eWebinar imports the video file into its own Vimeo-backed pipeline. Note: YouTube has made direct imports more restrictive over time: if the URL fails, download from YouTube and upload the file directly.
2. Upload from your computer in any common format: MP4, MOV, WMV, AVI, and others supported by Vimeo.
3. Import from Zoom if you've connected the Zoom integration. You'll see a picker listing your recent cloud recordings.
4. Publish from Descript: from Descript's publish menu pick eWebinar and the rendered video is sent straight into a new eWebinar (see Publishing from Descript below).

Limits and best practices

• One video per eWebinar. Each eWebinar supports a single video file. If you have multiple clips, combine them into one file before uploading.
• The upload limit is 2 GB per file. At 720p (our recommended resolution) that's roughly two hours.
• If you need a larger file, use the Vimeo integration to host the source in your own Vimeo account instead.
• Use 720p for most eWebinars: it's the best balance of quality and bandwidth for live streaming over diverse internet connections. 1080p is fine if your audience is mostly desktop on good connections.
• Captions are generated automatically once the video finishes transcoding. See automatic transcription and captions.

Publishing from Descript

Descript can send a finished video straight into a new eWebinar, so you never upload or import the file yourself:

1. Finish editing your video in Descript.
2. In Descript's publish menu, pick eWebinar as the destination. Descript sends the rendered video and its title to eWebinar.
3. eWebinar opens the Create eWebinar wizard with the video pre-loaded. If you are not already signed in, you are asked to sign in (or sign up) first.
4. Continue through the wizard, choosing a schedule, chat settings, and interactions, then publish.

From that point on, the video is managed by eWebinar like any other upload. Edits you make in Descript later do not sync back: if you re-record or re-edit, export the new file and use Replace video on the existing eWebinar. Captions from Descript are not imported either; eWebinar's automatic transcription generates them once the video has been processed.
